What makes readers connect to your story?

Writing close point of view and putting the reader directly in the character’s head is a key part of a successful book. 

I’m guesting over at Janice Hardy’s blog today–my go to place for writing craft tips–and would love if you stopped by. Here’s a snippet of the article. 

Point of view is a tricky beast, especially if you are writing in third person and have multiple points of view. And one of the hardest things to pull off isclose point of view–in other words, getting inside a character’s head. In order to make a reader empathize with a character and walk in that character’s shoes, you’ve got to get deep into their thoughts.
