Row80 Check In: 1-22-12 Rowing Along

I’m down at my parents for my mom’s 70th birthday, so this update will be short and sweet.

Goals for this week: to finish editing act one of THE PROPHET and write 2000 words.

Accomplished. I wrote just over 2600 words, so I’m feeling pretty good. The problems my critique partner found with act one are fixed, and the first draft is solid.

Goals for this week: write at least 2000 words into act two and a new Thriller Thursday.

**This is depending on my brother’s passing. My sister posted on Friday evening that it wouldn’t be long, a day or two, so we’re waiting by the phone. Assuming he dies this week, I’ll be traveling and there will be no Thriller Thursday.

Thank you all for your support, and a big shout out to the #Row80 Sprint girls. I got the majority of my word count during the sprints. They are a great motivator, and I encourage everyone to try them out at 1 central:)

Have a great week!

Congrats on the edits and reaching your word count goals. I’m sorry to hear about your brother. Try to have a good week if you can.

  2. Oh my *hugs* about your brother. You’ve accomplished a lot of work with so many things going on in your life! I hope your week is as soothing as it can be. My heart goes out to you.

    How was the birthday celebration???

    • Thank you. It’s actually helpful to throw myself into writing. It’s about the only thing that keeps my mind off it. And the birthday celebration went well – my daughter and I surprised her. 🙂

  3. I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying the sprints, Stacy! They really are helping out a lot of us. I’m fascinated that we’re all doing the same thing at the same time in all different parts of the world. I’m always fascinated by things like that. Very sorry to hear about your brother. My thoughts are with you and your family this week.

    • Thanks, Lauren. And me, too. It is amazing how we can be connected across the world and have the same goal. The sprints are a big help for me!

  4. This will be a tough week for you. I hope he goes peacefully and will be praying for your family. The progress you made is great! This week just do what you can and don’t worry about the rest.

    • Yes, it will. The funeral will be in Indianapolis, and the traveling always wears me out. But I’m worried about my mother most of all. Her health isn’t great. Anyway, thanks so much:)

  5. Wow. I am sorry to hear about your brother… my brother died nearly five years ago and wow, it was quite a journey for all of us. I’ll hold y’all in my prayers.

And yes, #teamsprinty rocks, seriously. I keep thinking I have way too much fun to write as many words as my hands somehow manage to pump out!

    Love, love, love, love, love!!

    • I’m sorry to hear about your brother as well. My oldest brother was killed in a car wreck in June 2005, and this is much worse. The waiting and the suffering, knowing what other family members are going through, is tough.

Teamsprint has been great. Hope to see you some this week. Thank you!

  6. Great job on your goals! I’m glad to see The Prophet moving forward and I know your CP is excellent *grins*. By the way, I love your new banner, creepy cool.

All the best to you and your family this week, Stacy. Peace.

    • LOL. Yes, she is. She’s so great about finding stuff about the characters/plot that I just don’t see. Glad you like the banner, too. And thank you so much.

  7. Hi Stacy! First may I just say how sorry I am to learn of your brother’s situation. That’s horrible Stacy and I wish you and your family comfort and peace.

I was just wondering through the ROW80 group today and introducing myself so we can get to know one another better since I am new. You have great goals and I can see that you are doing really well with them.

I am so glad I stopped by. Take care of yourself Stacy. Again, I am so sorry. 🙂

    • Thank you very much. It’s been a rough road for him and his caretakers.

It’s great to meet you! Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Row80 has been a big help for me in terms of support and motivation. I look forward to seeing your updates, and thanks again:)

  8. Congrats on all the progress in the writing department. It can be such a helpful escape when dealing with tough times. I’m sorry to hear about your family’s hardship. Take care and stay strong. Thinking of you.

  9. Still think about you and your brother from time to time. It pops into my brain now and then, and I usually say a quick prayer for y’all. I simply can’t imagine saying goodbye to a sibling…not yet. Great job on word counts. I definitely plan to jump into a sprint or two this week since I’m starting a new project.

    • Thank you. He is still hanging on, just lying there, basically. So damned sad. It’s awful. This will be the second I’ve lost. Thanks so much, and look forward to seeing you in the sprints!
